WV Basketball Update!

You may already know everything in this post, especially if your a
member of Mountaineer Nation, but I don't really care! Bringing RTWK back to life in the thick of the
NCAA Basketball season means a lot of WVU updates!

Sohpmore Forward, Dan Jennings is no longer on the team.

I can honestly tell you, I noticed the lack of minutes played by Dan Jennings on Sunday during the Big East matchup against USF but I was shocked to hear about his disappearance shortly after half time, during the post-game Press Conference with Coach Huggins.

Huggins hasn't been happy with Jennings attitude all season. This was evident when Jennings was not invited to travel with the team to VMI earlier in the season. When asked after the game about Jennings, Huggins didn't have much to say but one line involving "never be seen again" was uttered during his seemingly perplexed response.

After that, it was no shocker to hear that Jennings was now off the team.
Now, I don't know why this happened, some are saying Jennings and Huggs must have had shared a few uneasy words during half time but thats just speculation. I will say though, I hope it was worth losing his spot on the team. Huggs didn't like his attitude and based off what I know, which is simply that he left his team approximately 2 minutes into the second half, Huggs is right, he has a poor attitude.

The Mountaineers beat USF 56-46.

Senior Guard, Casey Mitchell is suspended indefinitely.

In a Press Release sent out earlier this evening, Coach Huggins announced that Casey Mitchell was suspended for the remainder of the season. Losing the teams leading scorer, averaging almost 17 points a game, is a big blow to the team who is in the thick of Big East play.

Much like Dan Jennings, there is very little information about why the suspension has happened. In Casey Mitchell's case we are being told that it is due to a violation of team rules. Another similarity to Jennings situation is, this was not Mitchell's first strike of the season. He was suspended for a team rules violation before the regular season began in November.

The mood in the Coliseum on Sunday was one unlike I have experienced before. Coming off a loss to state rival Marshall, the crowd was not as big as many would have hoped and the people who were there  seemed to have their minds on something else. With the team heading to L'Ville in hopes of continuing to better their record, this could cause a huge change in team morale. This causes a major shift on and off the court, I hope the boys can work through it and continue on the road to MSG!

LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
