Vick starting for the Birds!

We all know about Vick's past but I can say I am happy for him and his new position
as starting QB for the Philadelphia Eagles!

On Sunday, Vick started his first game since his 2006 season with the Atlanta Falcons.
After serving his 18 months for the dogfighting operation, his return to the league was not easy.

After Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion, Eagles coach Andy Reid gave Vick a chance. Although Reid wasn't thinking Vick would take Kolb's spot as a starter, number 7 did a lot to make him rethink the idea.

Against the Detroit Lions, Vick was MOVIN' all over the field.
21 of 34 for 284 yards with 2 TDs
Ran for 37 yards all while showing off spin moves and quick steps.

Vick has been named Starting QB since Sundays game!
It is not at all related to Kolb's concussion but to the way he has played the last 2 games.

Vick paid his dues and with Andy Reid giving him a chance, is now doing something
great for his new city and team in Philadelphia.

Below is a video about some of the 51 dogs saved from Vick's VA farm and the amazing new lives they are living and the lives they now touch every day.

I for one am happy to see healthy happy dogs!!

I am also excited to see how long this run lasts with Vick!!

Backyard Brawl uniforms!!

OK!!! IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR...FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!

Of Course my first Football post has to be WVU MOUNTAINEER related!!

Earlier today in NYC, was the debut of the 2010 Nike Pro Combat uniforms for 9 schools,
one of which was WVU!

WVU Basketball coach, WVU Alum and WV Native, Bob Huggins was in NYC to introduce the new football jersey to the world!

*Coal Mines to Goal Lines*

West Virginia University has played in the Backyard Brawl against their rival, Pitt 102 times to date. This season, in game 103, WVU will be wearing these new Nike Pro Combat uniforms, inspired by the spirit of West Virginia. (Pitt will also be wearing their Nike Pro Combat uniforms for this years game.)

On November 25th, 2010, the West Virginia University Mountaineers will suit up in their Pro Combat uniforms and take the field to beat the Pittsburgh Panthers!!!!

You don't have to live in WV or be a fan to know that Coal Mining is a major part of life throughout the state. Nike took the two things that rule in WV, Football and Coal Mining, and made this amazing uniform.

Starting with the helmet, we have a smudge Black base with a Gold line running down the middle which signifies the helmet lights of the coal miners. A '29' on the back of the helmet pays respect to the 29 coal miners who lost their lives at the Upper Big Branch mine last April.

The White on the uniform looks like it has a thin layer of dust from the mines.

A smudged black is found on the numbers, Pro Combat base layer, down the leg stripe and around the waist.

Accent color of University Gold bring forth the idea of the Canaries that were used in mines years ago to test the toxicity of the mine.

The smudge Black transfers over to the gloves as well. A Flying WV is found on the palms of the gloves while on the wrist of each gloves read, "Leave No Doubt."

University Gold cleats finish the look for my boys in the 103rd matchup!

Here is video of Huggy Bear in NYC earlier today:

WVU kicks off their 2010 season this saturday in Morgantown against Coastal Carolina!!
Not only am I upset about this being my first season since 2003 that I will not be at the season opener, but I will be driving to Maryland during the game and probably won't get to watch any of it either.

I know my boys are about to put in work though so I'm not worried!!

LET'S GOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!

Some WBF Highlights!

The World Basketball Festival honestly made me remember why and how much I love basketball!

I remember watching every single game when I was younger! You hit Middle School and things change and although I always tracked my team I can say I didn't watch as much. Even worse, in High School, I even tracked them less but always wish them well! When I went away to college I got back into the game but on the College level ( LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!!).

Watching the Hall of Fame Ceremony last week, brought me back to when I was younger and all I wanted to do was watch Scottie and Jordan, Magic, Bird, Malone, Barkley and so on.

Seeing the Highlights of Scottie and my Chicago Bulls, brought me back to when I was like like 11-12 and went to see them play in Jersey against the Nets! It made me remember why I love not only the Bulls of the early 90s but the Bulls of today!! I always have been and always will be a Bulls fan!

Here is video of Scottie Pippen's speech at the Hall of Fame Ceremony:

Below are some more videos from the WBF!!!
